Help! Notaries Won't Stamp My Foreign Document!
These can get a tad bit tricky for notaries who aren’t professionally trained on how to execute. It can be nerve wrecking to receive documents in your native language that must be notarized only to then scour the internet searching for someone, ANYONE, to put a stamp on it.
Don’t Panic! I am here to help!
Here’s some Notary truth: Documents that are written in a foreign language can still have the SIGNATURE on the document notarized.
A Notary is simply attesting to the fact that you signed the document and they have verified your identity. That is all. They are not swearing to the contents of the document. If the Notarial Certificate (jurat/affidavit) isn’t in English and there is some confusion or the notary wants to be super careful, they may attach a separate certificate to the document and notarize your signature.
