Do I really need a Mobile Notary?
A moment of honesty? Hiring a mobile notary is purely convenient and in some cases a luxury.
Convenience: Most people don’t know that they need a notary until they NEED a Notary. This may happen after normal business hours or when a family member is in hospital or nursing home and they are unable to physically get to a Notary Public. It’s super convenient to be able to call a mobile notary to handle your needs in these cases especially if there is an emergency.
Luxury: You are more than capable of walking into a Notary’s office or a place of business to get your document notarized but you’d rather not or you’re unable to due to your schedule. This would count as a luxury service.
In the special case that you’d need a Notary to notarize your loan or mortgage documents, hiring a mobile notary is probably your safest and stress free option. This can be done in office (if the Notary has an office), in your home, or at your local coffee shop.
I cannot speak for every notaries pricing structure, but I can speak for Cleveland Pro Enterprises, LLC.
Here are the Notary fee’s governed by the state of Ohio:
The fees for the following services are the maximum allowed under Ohio Law (ORC 147.08):
· Acknowledgements: $2.00
· Oaths and Affirmations Without Signature: $2.00
· Verification Upon Oath or Affirmation: $1.50
· Protests: $1.00 plus expenses
· Recording: $.10 per 100 words
· Depositions: For taking a deposition, the Notary may charge whatever fees are customary. (ORC 2319.27)
Notaries are limited to charging these dollar amounts for these services, but they are NOT limited on what they may charge for convenience, travel, or cost to run THEIR business.
At Cleveland Pro Enterprises LLC, we charge a minimum travel fee for all services $35 and that is subject to change at any time.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for. If you want convenience and or luxury, it may cost you.
